Black Luster is a version of black gloss that is applied thinner, which allows some iron crystals to form as the glaze cools. The glaze is basically black gloss with some metallic flecks and some brown stripping. This effect is usually quite striking and is similar of some of the classic Japanese stoneware glazes.
