Lamp Wiring Options

My lamps come with solid brass sockets. All lamps are 3-way except the mini-lamps which have Hi-Low switches on the cord. Regular incandesent bulbs work in all the lamps. CFL ( compact flourescent ) bulbs will work fine in the 3-way sockets, but will not work in the mini-lamps.

The optional dimmer sockets we offer work with incandescent or halogen bulbs, but should not be used with CFL bulbs. The only exception to this is the CFL that is specially made to be dimmable. I think the newer CFL bulbs are much better than the old ones, and are the wave of the future. They come in a range of colors from warmer to cooler and light up quickly. CFL's save about 70% of your lighting cost and last a very long time.

I can wire the larger lamps like the mini-lamps with a hi-low cord switch and a keyless socket. This set up will give you 2 levels of light from any regular incandescent or halogen bulb. If you want to the use this option with CFL bulbs, you should request a regular on-off cord switch. The maximum wattage will still be determined by the shade size. There is no charge for this option, just ask for it when you order.
